On the occasion of the 2025 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we published a report funded by the European Commission, as part of the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan 2020-2025, aimed at supporting EU countries in monitoring and evaluating their National Action Plans Against Racism.
The report begins with a comprehensive review of academic research, examining how bias-driven discrimination against visible minorities restricts opportunities in education, school-to-work transition, employment, housing, and health. It then proposes indicators to measure this discrimination and offers guidance on expanding data collection on visible minorities to enhance the monitoring of anti-racism efforts.

How can we teach essential civic skills to strengthen social cohesion, such as supporting freedom of conscience and religion?
This fundamental freedom, at the core of France’s laïcité and enshrined in many national constitutions, is a human right recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
On the occasion of France’s 2024 Laïcité Day, the OECD released a study showcasing the benefits of learning the difference between facts and faith. This approach not only helps students better understand what laïcité means but also fosters their adherence to this principle.
By strengthening their support for the freedom to hold, express, or change one’s convictions - provided this freedom respects others’ rights - this pedagogy also contributes to a more inclusive and harmonious school environment.
This study relies on a randomized control trial conducted in France from December 2022 to June 2023, involving nearly 1,800 primary school students.
