This book takes stock of privatisation efforts across Sub-Saharan Africa, where the process remains in its early stages, with total proceeds having reached only $8 billion, a fraction of the $46 billion seen in transition economies over the same period.
It traces the evolution of privatisation across the region, explores the methods employed, and critically assesses whether the intended goals, particularly improved service delivery and poverty reduction, have been achieved.
The report offers valuable insights for policymakers, advisers, donors, and research institutions engaged in shaping or supporting privatisation strategies.
